I've always used charcoal, just recently purchased my dream gas grill. Honestly, I missed the smokey flavor, so I purchased this unit - quite a bit less than the one that Weber offers. Used it for the first time last night. I now LOVE my gas grill, I get that great smokey flavor with this unit. It did catch fire, but that was my fault for not soaking my chips long enough - but I poured a little water in the top and all was good. Highly recommend this for the price and the performance. I'll try and post back after I've had it for a year, to update it longevity. The only thing I would change would be to by the shorter version, on my Weber I have to lift both grates to open the smoker box.
