Cars and People: Pissing at 60 Miles an Hour Review

There was a time when a book like this one would have been burned by the thousands. Of course, there was never a time when this type of writing existed. It is strong, in your face, bold and direct. The characters are vivid and the story line a reflective glance into how we may have become the people we are. This is a story where words are played with in bizarre ways and we are brought full circle to stand and acknowledge ourselves for who we are. The author says it best in a quote (which he has obviously made up) at the begining of thie book; "Never hold any man to a standard of ethics of which you are incapable of reaching." The book runs its lifecycle along the lives of "car salesmen." New ones. Old ones. Retired ones. Not yet retired ones. Dead ones. And it finds a common thread between them and their lovers or lack of lovers. I applaud this crafty work and wait for more to read.
